Heart of the Forest Farm

Pioppino aka black poplar, Cyclocybe aegerita

Shelf life and storage:

  • Store in fridge 3 to 5 days  - always refrigerate and thoroughly cook all varieties of fresh mushrooms
  •  Can be frozen after par cooking
  •  Use entire stem except for the end where the cluster is attached
  •  Handle gently to avoid crushing delicate caps

Flavors and Uses:

  • Crispy, delicate but meaty texture and rich nutty flavor 
  • Superior and classic choice for red sauce with pasta
  • Native to Mediterranean Europe
  • Easy to prepare, chop roughly or use whole after trimming ends
  • Everyone who tries these loves them!

Cultivation:

  • Cultivation difficulty - intermediate
  • Grown indoors on supplemented sawdust 
  • One of the first mushrooms cultivated in human history 
  • Season - year round indoors
