Pink Oyster - aka Pleurotus djamor

Shelf life and storage:

  • Store in fridge 2 to 4 days - shortest shelf life of all our species, use asap - always refrigerate and thoroughly cook all varieties of fresh mushrooms
  •  Can be frozen after par cooking
  •  Not recommended for dehydration 

Flavors and Uses:

  • Less dense, fast cooking, thinner caps, but still nicely chewy
  • Strong seafood flavor that reminds us of clams
  • Bright pink color fades to peach when cooked
  • A superior choice for pasta dishes
  • The BEST species for mushroom bacon

Cultivation:

  • Cultivation difficulty - easy, summer only
  • Grown indoors on supplemented sawdust or outdoors in straw beds
  • Requires full shade
  • Season - late June to early September
  • Cold sensitive, not frost hardy & unable to naturalize in northern climates
