Bring a 5 gallon bucket & make a mini oyster mushroom log to take home! Incubate logs indoors 4 to 6 months before removing from the bucket to a permanent outdoor home in a humid spot.
$20 ticket includes:
Attendance for 1 adult (children under 18 not making their own log may attend free)
1 pre-cut 5 to 6" diameter 12 to 14" length hardwood log, oyster mushroom spawn
Info session & log demonstration followed by Q&A
Hands-on workshop to make your own log (take home kit option available)
Care sheet, private FB group, online support thread on Substack
Extra logs are available at the workshop-only price of $13 each!
Before the workshop:
Pick out a few shady outdoor sites at home as a potential home for your log
Plan where in your home you will store a 5 gallon bucket (above 45 F°) until Spring
Think of any questions about growing, cooking, selecting a site etc.
Day of workshop:
Make sure your 5 gallon bucket is clean
Check address & GPS, especially for Grafton Town Hall - we have had reports of people getting lost using GPS
Be present - please leave devices silent or off if possible. We request no unauthorized photography during the workshop aside from photos of your own project.
After the workshop:
Place your bucket to incubate until spring, check periodically, follow the instruction sheet, contact us with questions
Prepare to refrigerate your spawn until ready to complete your project (up to 1 week) if using the take-home kit option
